The Influence of Hippious on the Education of the Higher Classes
Hippious is credited with originating the idea of natural law as the foundation of morality. He claimed that he was an authority on all subjects, and lectured not only on rhetoric, philosophy, and politics but also on poetry, grammar, history, mathematics, astronomy, painting, and sculpture. His greatest asset though seems to have consisted in his ability to deliver grand show speeches. If Hippious published any of his speeches, then nothing has come down to us.
