The backfire effect is an example of counter arguing. People who are given facts about vaccines, who don't want to get vaccinated, after receiving the information, they become even less likel accinated. When a person's in therapy, especially the client is there because of alcoholism or drug abuse, and they want to see what they can do about altering their behavior. The idea is that when you feel that desire to argue and they're holding down the other side of it, all you produce are arguments for continuing to do the thing right? And thosecounter s will be new arguments that you created on your own, that i did not copy paste into you. There's no reactions taking place
