Art is about the sharing of ideas and therefore it is open to everybody. If it's about ownership, yes, it's for the 1 percent. But if it's about thesharing of ideas, it's much wider. Many years ago, I had lunch with Mick Jagger and he was asking me about Jasper Johns. He said, isn't he that guy whose work sells for a lot of money? I said, you know, it sells for a lots of money. What is the role of contemporary art museums today? Are biennales and art fairs platforms for experiment and exchange, or little more than social attractions for the elite?
