Women in the Workplace
In the 19 fifties, women were still predominantly at home as housewives. The civil service got rid of its ban on unmarried women and they started to go back into work. By the end of that decade, 50% of middle aged women were working in Britain. But now manufacturing is a smaller share of employment than it was 20 years ago. Soi just wonder whether you'd think having a female monarch has played a role in this society or transformation anyway?
