The Coronation Ceremony
I think we might as well just reflect on the coronation. We're not really asked to give our affirmation and consent. How can it be that the king gives his first Christmas speech where he talks passionately about the great anxiety and hardship that families are facing? And indeed he played tribute to all those and I quote, wonderfully kind people who so generously give food and donations. So says the man with an estimated wealth of £1.8 billion, ahead of an institution with untold wealth. It's a bit like a wedding service. He asks effectively, do you take this man to be your king? It is the ask. But ultimately now, of course, it's just a ceremonial one
