Introduction

Around three 90 b c, a large band of barbarian invaders from the north poured into italy. They were passing through roman territory on their way south, looking for adventure. And these gauls decided to march against rome and see what kind of trouble they could stir up. The romans sent out an army, and they're crushed in a great battle,. It leaves the city defenceless. One man was ultimately responsible for taking the city. His name was camillus. There's a plutarch biography of him. We'll get to it sometime.
