The next day, is it okay to eat quite a bit less to get rid of maybe some of that previous day's surplus? It can be. If you're extra motivated at that point, that's the reason I think it's better to compensate afterwards than beforehand. Now, other than that, it's much more important to focus on long term habits and routines and just following your meal plan.
