There were 11 suicides in two thousand and 16 at a Chinese iPhone factory. The workers took their own lives after being berated by management. They would then threaten mass suicide if they weren't restored to normal working conditions. When the company was finally given overtime that they were due, most of them came down from the roof.

Paris Marx is joined by Brian Merchant to discuss the development of the iPhone, how Apple manages the press, and how the parts of the company’s supply chain that get too little attention.
