There's a lot of emotional intelligence in this book. And it's also a narrator who is covering dicey turrain, and doing so in a subversive way. I think i benefited from having no idea that it would even ever be published. The assumption of mor moral correctness from any one particular person is always very dubious to me. You know, novel plays are bursts and novels are slogs. But i really wanted to force myself to just go like a train, not worry about it.
