Night Witches

The 588th night bomber regiment was known as the 46th Tom and Guy Baba Blah blah. The regiment flew harassment bombing and precision bombing missions against the German military from 1942 to the end of the war. How did the Germans know that it was a guy or a woman? You know what happened is they shot one down. They ran over to see if they were still alive and if they were, they killed them. Then then they realized it was a woman. I never understood how you got to know your enemy that well.
