Deng Xiaoping has worked to rehabilitate Mao within China's modern conception of itself. People that go against the CCP accepted view of history are considered historical nihilists and they're basically through, you know, into jail. The idea in China is that Khrushchev and the Communist Party created tremendous errors negating Stalin because it undermined belief in the party.
