Augustine's Tour of the Prophetic Books
In Book 18 of the city of God, Augustine tries to show that Jesus' coming had been foretold centuries prior to his birth. He claims Hebrew is the world's oldest written language; ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs are more than 2,000 years older. The Greek Septuagint, as we've learned, was a translation from Hebrew to Greek of the Old Testament.
