The best way to resolve a conflict is to reduce the amount of pressure you put on the person to perform in some kind of theatrical mode. Instead, I would schedule some one on one time where you can speak privately about them. Try not to be hostile, try not to be aggressive. And instead state the problem with objective facts as much as you can.
