The Assassination of André Thévet
Marguerite de la Rauke was a French noblewoman, about whom very little can confidently be said. Records show she was placed in control of lands in southern France in 1536. She had a relative by the name of Jean-Francois de La Rauke de Roberval who might have been her brother or cousin. He ingratiated himself with Francis I by leveraging his own property in the south to win the King's esteem and live the high life. But then he took up piracy against the British, but that didn't do the trick either so he appealed to Francis to give him a charter to resettle and colonize new France. After selling some more
