The Hitchcock Chord
The chord is also called the hitchcock chord. It has so much ambiguity, dissonance and complexity in this single tonality. The composer bernard herman loved this sound. And there's a good reason why this hitchcock chord gets past onto bond - it has to do with exactly what you said about it. This is one of these weird chords. It's called a minor major seven. Youwoud have heard this in the theme for psycho. You also hear it in north by northwest. It's in vertigo.
