How to Use a Feature Flag to Make Sure Your Application Is Working as Expected

I think I'm fine with having a QA person turn a feature flag on on a staging server, try something out as part of the workflow. But if it's for developer reasons, because we're concerned about coupling or we're concerned that something could break, then I get really uncomfortable saying, okay, we're going to have a team of people working for several weeks behind a feature flag. Now you're just kind of creating new risk while also trying to mitigate it. And it kind of turns into a sort of weird zero sum game.
