Jesus and the God of Classical Theism
Mortification of Spin
The Impassibility of God in the Old Testament
In his divine essence, jesus was not already undergoing suffering or change as we do. It's when he takes upon himself the human nature that he has that then he is in a position to suffer as one of us. So i would actually say a text like hebrews two 14 18 implies divine impassibility. I think it gives us a right to say that impassibility is not just philosophical speculation, but a biblical attribute of god. And that helps us understand the significance and striking nature of the incarnation.
