I really strongly agree with Richard Rangham and others who think that control of fire and consistent use of cooking characterizes the evolutionary transition to Homo erectus there's a variety of reasons to think this right so thatThat's way earlier when when does Homo erectus emerge that's almost two million years ago right or either a variety of lines of evidence we get this massive increase in our cranial volume which would have occurred through fire.
