Necian Criticism of Socrates
Socrates did not fight against this outcome and serenely accepted his death. By invoking esclapius, the god of medicine, socrates was implicitly calling life a disease and death the cure. The implications here are the reason for the harshest necian criticism of socrates. Man as a rational being is incompatible with man as a living being. by associating ourselves with our rational mind we grow disenchanted with our physical body and its limitations. We grow to distrust our own nature, carnal and irrational as it is.
