CHAPTER

The Origins of Teleology

The universe was born without consciousness and intelligence. Eventually it gave birth to consciousness or life first. Then that life eventually became both conscious and intelligent life. And this conscious intelligence gave birth to machine intelligence. Then we have a little period of matryoshka brains and dyson spheres, giant computroniums. And finally, as Kurtzwell says, quote, the universe wakes up. So there is no longer any damn matter left anywhere in the universe because all of the matter has been converted to its ultimate purpose, which is to say to become smart. And so the universe is no longer a dumb universe as it started, but it is now a smart universe.
