The romans had saddles, but they didn't have stirrups. They fought with swords and spears on on horseback up into like werld. So you ridet, you're riding around fighting people, basically holding holding on to the horse with your thighs. That's pretty fuck and crazy,. And insanely dangerous. But it also made them super effective armies.
