Cat Got Your Tongue?

There's a very popular belief that this began with a script from the life of bryan, the wonderful montepiton film. It does seem like it was used there. And if you look in the oxford english dictionary, it will give you 19 86 for its first record of trying to herd cats. Where that one comes from, though, who knows, may go back to ancient egyptian mythology. May simply be to do with a cat of nine tails, which certainly is behind the no room to swing a cat.
