Hussar uniforms were absolutely covered with gold or silver braiding, often all the way from neck to ankle. This made them look more imposing, and it also showed off their muscles,. i am sure contributed to their reputation as womanizers. There a saying about the hussars in every country, they are hated by the husband, but loved by the wife.
