Offence is a sign that an idea credibly threatens your worldview. People often think an offensive thing is just an insulting thing, or just a repugnant thing. For example, if someone called me ugly, I would be offended because I kinda know that I'm ugly. And why offense is so important is we strongly believe from our value set that if you are wrong, you should change your mind and get corrected.
