The Mystification of the State
In ancient Greek society, Athenian democracy, all right, there was a guy named Solon of Athens. He established a new constitution in 594 BC which basically avoided huge debts that used to be on lower classes. But it didn't challenge the fundamental class structure of that society. In contrast, bourgeois revolutions were a more fundamental change to society because they specifically moved society from a feudal mode of production to a capitalist mode of production. Despite the fact that class dynamics still remain, there's still a minority ruling over a majority based on economic privilege.
