Is the Presence of a Prosthetic Functionally Integrated?
Baron Ench in his book, How We Act, I think hit upon one of the things that's going wrong in these cases of heteromieso-causal deviance. If my heart only beat when someone wanted it to be beating, it's not functionally integrated within me as a system. It's just this thing that is, this standby that every once in a while beats and maybe I'm not even alive on some organ organism. That's not going to be something that's playing any kind of role within, again, a system we could describe as integrated. And so, and I think that's what's missing in those sorts of cases about.
