Why India Isn't on Track?

Coal is the most damaging to the climate. The Indian government last year announced plans to reopen 100 coal mines. And also, there was a proposal for some new coal power plants. Dithya Aria: Some are saying that the move to open up more coal mines and coal plants is a political one. Coal sector directly employs a workforce of about 1.2 million and many more depend on it indirectly. A big chunk of coal based infrastructure in India had evolved during British colonial rule.
