The Four Dimensional Manifold
There might be ways of distributing physical properties over this manifold such that there isn't any way of slicing things up, so that there's always a simple rule linking parallel slices. But the overwhelming majority of those choices are not going to feature any way of sliced things up and you'll just have a chaotic distribution of properties at random. So in universes like that, we would say these universes don't have any temporal nature at all. The world is just this four dimensional chunk. Distinguishing spatial axes from temporal axes comes much further downstream. That's a funny thing to get all worked up about. Okay.
