The Origins of Natural Theology

Paley wasn't a particularly innovative thinker, but he was a great textbook writer. He wrote this book on natural theology which is about the argument from design and that sort of thing. And so these are the ideas which are important as we go into the 19th century. But most importantly, Tennyson, the all-important Victorian poet, picked up on Chambers and actually used his ideas in his famous poem Immemorium.
