Syrus Clouds

Cold air flows over slightly warmer or slightly less cold seawater and it organizes itself into these kind of shapes. Even when the cloud is a big flat blanket like a stratus cloud it can still have patterns of clumpiness within itself due to convection currents. We've talked about sheet-like stratus and before that puffy cumulus but there's a third type Gavin mentioned earlier. The furthest away from us way up in the sky are the delicate and wispy syrus clouds. Named after the Latin for a lock or a curl of hair, syrus clouds being high are made of ice crystals rather than water droplets.
