The Enigma of Reason

Spervam and C8 argue that reason is a specialized function. It doesn't exist in other animals because other animals don't need it, they can come up with correct decisions just using the inferential modules. They see reason as being quite similar to this - reasons can be about anything but are used to communicate why you might want to do something or justify your behavior. This suggests that reasons function here is primarily social.
