If you want a low conflict life, rule number one is don't associate with high conflict people. If someone is manufacturing emergencies during the honeymoon period, trying to get you to say yes, they are going to manufacture and have emergencies later. And likely it's going to be returned upon you sevenfold if you say yes and not in a good way. Adversity doesn't necessarily build character, but it always reveals character.
