The Relationship Between the Earth and the Sun
There were a couple of, so sort of protoscientists already in the middle ages started to have, I think about that maybe we really do orbit this. One idea was like, well, if we are traveling that fast through space we should be feeling a headwind. But another much more sophisticated and much harder one to disprove is that if the Earth orbits the sun then we should see stars slightly moving on the sky. What they didn't realize was just how far away stars are. It actually took 19th century telescopes before they could detect what's called parallax of stars.
