The Gospel of Mary never says the word Magdalene or Magdalene anywhere in it. Karen King has a book called The Gospel of Mary of Magdalene, which is a misnomer. There was no consensus on the meaning of her name for centuries. Luke seems to think that it's a nickname. He doesn't think it's a place that she's from.
