The Importance of Sacrifice in the 21st Century
In other faiths the driving motive behind sacrifice was fear. In Judaism it was love. The name of God invariably used in connection with the sacrifices is Hashem. Sacrifice is the superglue of friendship. It bonds us to one another. And as we saw last week the very name of the book Vaiyikra means to summon in love where there is love there is sacrifice.
