Amy Van Seis is a marine biologist at NOAA's Northwest Fisheries Science Center in Seattle, Washington. She studies how whales communicate and what their communication means. The way that they produce sounds is really similar to the way humans produce sounds as well. Baleen whales tend to be the biggest whales. And these are the ones who use songs and use sound in the way Amy told us about.
