Is Rapid Prototyping a Bad Idea?

I wouldn't say that experimentation is bad, quite the contrary. That's a fantastic way to learn more and to move forward. My point is though that I feel we've come to rely too much on that. If you only stick with experimentation, again, you tend to sometimes stay too much in the same space,. Instead of taking a step back and saying, what is this telling us about what the real issue is?
