The energy generated from the fatty acids is basically generated much more slowly. You generate less carbon dioxide per unit of fat oxidized compared to unit of glucose oxidized. Less carbon dioxide means more calcium inside of the cell. Less CO2 means more lactate, lactic acid produced. And in fact, they claim it's preferentially used as fuel by the liver and by the brain. People with liver disease may go into a cute liver failure or ketoacidosis. That was not my personal experience.
