The movie is based on the true story of Kurt and brenda, a couple who fell in love while struggling to make ends meet. In real life, Kurt couldn't play football because there was no football to be played. He ended up stocking shelves at a grocery store for six months to a year before finding work with an arena team. "There was just so much interesting up and down in both he and brenda's journey," she says.
