The Last Tycoon by F Scott Fitzgerald
The Western hero is a simple character with simple and guileless motivations and gold. And it's a hero who innately, tack a turn, who is an aitly tack a turn the challenges to define his character purely through his actions. All action has to revolve around that character because that's the linchpin that's what people are locking into as they proceed on this journey. So you can have an action packed movie but if it doesn't relate directly to the character, it's going to leave the audience feeling unfulfilled.
