I think one of my self-destructive vents is that I have this pole toward extraordinary and I have this fear of ordinary, which is kind of like the two paths that cleared any Ethiopia. And so you're digging, you can keep digging, but you're stealing soil from somewhere else. My biggest fear is that when I get to the period in which I have nothing left to plan for or build for or chase down that I will have this aching emptiness. Which makes the ordinary seem a lot more attractive.
Glennon and Abby interview their favorite person and co-host: Amanda Doyle! Examining the relationships, decisions, and travels that led her to today – from hitchhiking across Ireland, to prosecuting child sex offenders in Rwanda, to making the biggest decision of her life in an Ethiopian airport – they dive into Amanda’s lifelong fear of the ordinary.
