The Effects of Inflammation in the Gut on Nitrate Release

A new study shows that the immune system releases a metabolite called I-NOS. This metabolite is activated by inflammation in the gut, which leads to release of nitrate. The bug can't survive unless it has access to this metabolic pathway for growth and survival. It's showing that this host microbiome relations due to a metabolite of the immune system when it's doing its thing and then this bug likes it as well.
