Australia passed a racial discrimination act in nine 75. That same year, whitlam handed back lands to the gerdend people of the northern territory. In two thousand and 15 it was added to australia's commonwealth heritage list. To mark the twentieth anniversary of the original protest, a permanent structure was erected. But much of the embassy was destroyed by fire in a suspected case of arson.
