The Memorial of the Sons of Confederate Veterans
Sons of Confederate Veterans were upset when they found out it had been covered. Todd Bolton, the park service employee, says he wasn't at the top level of memorial discussions. The wooden box was painted brown to make it blend in with the trash can covers. In 1995, enough political pressure mounted to force the park service to uncover the memorial.
