Frank Wilczyk won the Nobel Prize in 2004 for his theory of the strong interaction. He discovered that when quarks come close to one another, attraction abates and they behave like free particles. This is called asymptotic freedom. Frank says he remembers saying if the experiments bear this out, we'll get the Nobel Prize.
