Aeneas in the Iliad
The fact that Rome built their whole mythology around them being awful is both surprising to me as somebody who knows Greek and also not surprising at all when I then think about what I know about Rome. It seems a weird choice to obviously have fratricide at the heart of your foundation story. And then I love that Aeneas is so tacked on, because he's obnoxious and awful. He's objectively one of the least problematic parts, it seems to me.
