In 2022 997 cases of food poisoning were reported in schools across India. This is the highest it's been in the last six years. The midday meal scheme or MDM promises to offer students not just a hot cooked nutritious meal but also incentivizes these children to come to school in the first place. But midday meal related food poisoning cases are spiking.
