The History of Jesus' Death and Resurrection
The Gospels are being written by people who believed that Jesus not only was crucified, but that he was raised from the dead. They're teaching that for years before Paul even comes on the scene. I think as soon as the earliest followers of Jesus believed in the resurrection, they made that connection. This death mattered before God. This death was a sacrifice for sins. And so they're teaching that right from the outset.
