Beyond Magenta, Transgenter Teens Speak Out
Librarians in southlake, Texas faced the decision of whether to pull a book about transgenders from their shelves. A parent wrote an email complaining that beyond magenta had extreme sexual content. The school district's policy says parents should not be able to decide what children can and cannot read. Librarians were also under pressure after representative mat kraus put together a list of 850 books on racism, sex and l g b t c issues which might appear in libraries.
