I Am the Lord Who Brought You Out of Ur of the Chaldeans

Abraham embodies Israel's experience of coming out of Egypt in the Exodus. That's again going to be prophesied in the passage that we're reading. I think it's almost like Abram here is acting as a new Adam guarding the dwelling place of God. The animals we see are creating this path where the Lord himself in this flaming torch and a smoking pot, he's going to walk between. It's like these animals are going to be the place where the Lord walks. And Abram drives these birds away.
